The graduate ceramic arts program at Hood College — which students and faculty say is nationally distinguished and has made Frederick a hub for potters — is shutting down for good as officials cite declining enrollment.
Current students will be allowed to finish their degrees, Hood Provost Debbie Ricker said in an interview, but they must do so by the fall of 2025. The program is no longer accepting applicants.
