Families facing food insecurity feel it the most during the holiday season. Roseville is no stranger to this either, as every city in the U.S. faces hunger vulnerability. This year, we encourage customers to help make a difference to their community and the environment by participating in Roseville Environmental Utilities’ Succulents for Soups drive.
From November 28 to December 9 (except December 3 and 4), you can donate nonperishable canned food from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Utility Exploration Center at 1501 Pleasant Grove Boulevard and get a free succulent.
We’ll donate the food we collect to the Roseville St. Vincent de Paul Society, a leader in the local space for battling hunger and food insecurity.
“We have an opportunity to share our messaging around water conservation and the need to use water wisely,” said Bobby Alvarez, water conservation administrator. “We also want to help those who need it, especially during this time, and we are excited to use our space and our platforms to encourage folks to donate for a great community cause.”
We’ve partnered with Green Acres Nursery and Supply to provide water-efficient succulents to our residents in exchange for a donation. Each family that donates will receive one succulent and water-saving tips to enjoy.
Water-efficient plants, like succulents, are considered drought-tolerant. They can save up to (water fact) and are a great way to start the conversation about conserving water.
Offer available while supplies last. Only one succulent per family. Utility Exploration Center is closed on December 3 and 4, so please come another day that week.
