After a long private romance and the announcement of a pregnancy, Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse have announced their engagement.

Because the couple has kept their relationship largely hidden since they began dating in 2018, the news of their engagement came as a surprise.

When Pattinson and Waterhouse were photographed kissing in public in London in July 2018, it fueled speculation that they were romantically together.

Since then, they’ve kept a quiet profile, rarely mentioning their relationship in public. Despite the concealment, their love story is still developing, and they are finally ready to move on.

When Waterhouse was spotted with Pattinson at a Dior dinner party in Paris, France, in early 2019, there were rumors that the two had gotten engaged. The couple, however, chose to remain silent about the rumors.

Waterhouse told The Sunday Times in February 2023 that she was astonished to be happy with someone for more than five years. Despite their demanding schedules, she revealed that the couple never misses more than two months of each other’s companionship.

“I’m shocked that I’m so happy with someone for nearly five years,” Waterhouse said. “I had two days off the other day, and it was like, no question I’m going back to see him.”

The couple’s engagement announcement comes after a slew of public appearances, including their first-ever Met Gala appearance in May 2023 and their red carpet debut at the Dior Men Fall 2023 show in Giza, Egypt.

Waterhouse made another surprising announcement on November 19, 2023, during the Corona Capital Festival in Mexico City: she and Pattinson were expecting their first child.

“I’m extra sparkly today because I thought it might distract you from something else that’s going on,” Waterhouse explained to the audience as she pointed to her burgeoning baby bulge. “I’m not sure if it’s working.”
