Kendrick Lamar will be back in the spotlight on Super Bowl Sunday a week after sweeping the Grammy Awards with the epic Drake diss, “Not Like Us.”
Lamar is set to headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, where the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Feb. 9.
In a statement issued when the news broke, the Pulitzer Prize-winning hip-hop icon responded to the honor by proclaiming, “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”

Lamar hit No. 1 on Billboard’s album chart in late November with his fifth consecutive release to do so, “GNX.”
Complex named it Album of the Year while several other publications placed it in their year-end Top 10 lists, including Billboard, Consequence, Dazed, Esquire, the Line of Best Fit, Stereogum and the Washington Post.

- His biggest hits include the seven-times-platinum “Humble,” which became his first chart-topping entry on the Hot 100, “All the Stars” with SZA, and “Not Like Us,” which took home five Grammy Awards, including Song and Record of the Year, a week before the Super Bowl.

In December, Lil Wayne reflected on the hometown snub with sports commentator Skip Bayless, saying he and Lamar had talked about the controversy.
