Superintendent Degenfelder announces statewide mental health services connection program

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – Superintendent Degenfelder announced a new statewide mental health service connection program called Care Coordination.

“Really excited to announce the launch of this care coordination program. When I was campaigning this last year, really heard a lot from districts, and from individuals across the state of the issue of mental health with our students, and recognizing that this is an issue that we need to do something about,” said Megan Degenfelder, Wyoming State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Care Coordination will connect Wyoming students, families, and school district staff with mental health care providers both locally and nationally.

This resource creates the opportunity for improved mental wellbeing, while ultimately still leaving the parents in charge.

“The health of our students, their wellbeing is of utmost importance. If our children are not physically or mentally well, we can’t expect them to learn, so we want to make sure that we’re supporting families in their journey to ensure that their child’s mental health needs are met, and this is just one way to do that,” said Degenfelder.

There are currently 24 school districts participating in the Care Coordination program with more districts joining soon.
