MIAMI (CNN) – A new car test drive turned into a destructive high-speed police chase when police say a prospective buyer stole the car.

Authorities say a woman went to a car dealership in Miami on May 9 and made off with a new car while trying it out. Local news reports identified the suspect as 27-year-old Melina Logan.

Police were alerted to the incident and caught up with Logan, who slipped away from a salesperson during the test drive. She allegedly led officers on a high-speed and destructive chase, weaving through traffic and clipping multiple vehicles before crashing to a halt.

Logan can then be seen jumping into a lake in an attempt to flee. She was eventually pulled from the water and is now facing a slew of charges.

Police say at least one person was injured in a crash caused by the chase, according to reports.
