FORT WORTH (CBSNewsTexas.com) – Fort Worth police say the suspects who stole a vehicle on Saturday with a baby inside are still at large after recovering the vehicle on Monday.
According to the report, around 12:45 p.m., Fort Worth police were called to 1301 Orange Ave. where a mother said three people assaulted her 10-year-old child and stole her car with her 1-year-old inside.
The mother said she parked her car with her baby and 10-year-old child inside in front of her house while she took items inside.
According to the report, while she was inside, the suspects, two black males and one black female opened the doors to her vehicle and pulled the 10-year-old child out of the car.
That child tried to fight back and one of the suspects punched him in the side of the head.
The suspects then fled the scene in the vehicle with the baby still inside, the report states.
FWPD said not much later, a passerby saw the baby near a roadway roughly 2.5 miles away from 1301 Orange Ave.
The one-year-old was found near a roadway by a passerby a short time later approximately 2.5 miles from the initial call location. Medical personnel evaluated the baby, found them to be unharmed and returned them to their mother. Medical personnel also treated the 10-year-old for non-life-threatening injuries.
