An opportunity for Wabash Valley residents to own paintings, prints and other art and decorative objects for a budget price is being offered by the Swope Art Museum.
The “Big Deal” is scheduled for Nov. 16 on the third floor of the Swope in downtown Terre Haute. Doors open at 6 pm and the sale starts at 7 pm.
“It’s a Big Deal because friends of the Swope have donated about 200 works of art from their collections, and they will be for sale for $99 or less,” said Nancy Nation, chair of the fundraising event for the Swope.
Here’s how it works: individuals purchase tickets in advance for $30 at Swope.com/bigdeal. At 6 p.m. doors open to a reception with heavy hor d ‘oeuvres, sweets and savories from Terre Haute’s finest restaurants and Swope Alliance members.
At 7 p.m. 20 tickets will be drawn for the first round and buyers will have their choice of works for $99. After two rounds, the price will be reduced and that will continue until all the art is sold.
Donations of art, jewelry and home décor items are being accepted daily at the Swope from noon to 5 pm. For information about donations or tickets, call the Swope at 812-238-1676 ext. 137.
