Sydney Sweeney spoke out once more about rumors of a romance between her and Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell.
In a recent interview with Glamour, the Euphoria actress, 26, debunked rumors about her connection with Powell, 35, alleging that her on-screen companion suffered as a result of tabloid stories about an alleged affair between them.
“It was really hard on Glen, which made me sad… because [otherwise] it was such a beautiful experience for the both of us. I care for him so much,” she tells the publication.
Sweeney and Powell were photographed looking passionately in love while filming Anyone But You in Australia earlier this year, which caused quite a stir.
She speculated that her fiancé, Jonathan Davino, having a very private love story may have led to some of the rumors around their relationship.
“Also, I’ve never really shared that much [about my relationship], so the press loves to create drama in stories,” Sweeney went on to say.
Both artists were in committed relationships when rumors of a probable romance began to surface. Powell and his ex-girlfriend Gigi Paris called it quits after three years of dating in the spring.
Sweeney previously told Variety that she “felt beat up by” the rumors, especially because she couldn’t defend herself. Powell agreed with Men’s Health, calling the rumors “disorienting and unfair.”
Anyone But You, a modernized adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, hits theaters on December 22.
It revolves around two ex-rivals (Sweeney and Powell) who must pretend to be a pair despite their loathing for one another until a romance grows between them.
