Having a friend like Taylor Swift is the best thing anyone could ask for, so Selena Gomez is lucky to have one. On Tuesday, at the MTV Video Music Awards, the two best friends cheered for each other.
When Gomez and Rema’s song “Calm Down” got the Best Afrobeats award, Swift was seen cheering for her friend. Swift danced and put her hands in the air as Gomez got her gift on stage.
Swift was given the award for Best Pop earlier in the night. Swift gave the first award speech of the night, and Gomez just stood still on camera the whole time.
After that, they stood for pictures together as best friends. Swift wore a black dress with a thigh-high slit that made her look like she had just come out of her “Reputation” phase. Gomez, on the other hand, wowed in a red gown.
In one picture, Gomez could be seen standing near Swift and around the Karma artist.
Another picture showed the women hugging with joy, perhaps after hearing that Swift had won.
The two big names in pop music have been working together for years. Last month, Gomez and her younger sister, Gracie, got to spend a lot of time together at Swift’s show. Swift helped promote Gomez’s new song, “Single Soon,” at the end of that month.
Swift is up for eight awards, and she already has one of them: Song of the Year. On Tuesday, she is also up for Video of the Year and Artist of the Year, among other prizes. Swift won Song of the Year, but Gomez and Rema are still in the running for Best Collaboration.
