Taylor Swift broke another record by rerecording her 2014 album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version), while her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, was in Germany for a football game.
This week, the singer’s new album topped the Billboard 200, as well as the vinyl albums and streaming albums charts, selling over 1.6 million sales in the United States and over 3.5 million globally.
Furthermore, according to The Hollywood Reporter, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) has now eclipsed 1989’s first-week sales in 2014, making it the first Taylor Version to outperform the original.
Swift set a number of milestones this year by releasing three albums in the course of a year. The Grammy-winning performer beat her previous record for the most-streamed Spotify album in a single day, which her album Midnights set in October of last year.
While Swift was setting and breaking records, Kelce was enjoying the latest victory during Sunday’s game in Frankfurt, Germany.
Kelce, 34, finished with 14 yards on three catches. According to The Athletic, Kelce overtook Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez’s previous record of 10,940 with 10,941 to become the Chiefs franchise’s all-time best receiver.
