Taylor Swift declined the British monarchy.

Omid Scobie, a royal writer, said in his bombshell new book Endgame that the global music sensation, 33, was offered to sing during King Charles III’s coronation earlier this year, but she declined.

The reason for her rejection was not revealed, but it was most likely due to scheduling issues because the 12-time Grammy winner had an Eras Tour event in Nashville on May 6 – the same day as the coronation.

Notably, Swift was not the only A-lister to decline the invitation; Adele, the Spice Girls, Harry Styles, Elton John, and Robbie Williams all declined, according to the Rolling Stone.

According to experts, most of the artists did not want to associate their brand with the monarchy after its numerous scandals.

“The royal family has faced a number of PR disasters in recent times, and anyone performing at the show would have to consider whether there would be backlash from appearing amongst their fans,” Jones told the newspaper.

As such, organizing the occasion was a “challenge” for royal officials.

Katy Perry, Lionel Ritchie, and Andrea Bocelli eventually consented to perform at the historic event.
