Taylor Swift has been nominated for eight 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. Seven of them are for her “Anti-Hero” music video, and one is for artist of the year.
The next singer on the list is SZA, who got six nominations, MTV said on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old singer has won 14 VMAs so far, which puts her behind Beyoncé, who has 28 (two with Destiny’s Child) and Madonna, who has 20, and Lady Gaga, who has 19.
Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, and Sam Smith are all tied with five nods, while BLACKPINK, Diddy, and Shakira each have four.
The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards will be held on September 12, and 35 of the nominees will be first-time nominees. This includes Petras, Metro Boomin’, Rema, and each of their three nominations. Also listed for the first time are Aespa, Burna Boy, Davido, Eslabon Armado, FIFTY FIFTY, PinkPantheress, Saucy Santana, Stephen Sanchez, and Toosii.
The VMAs will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Fans can vote online starting Tuesday in 15 categories that don’t have to do with gender, including a new category for “best Afrobeats.” Voting ends on Friday, September 1. But you can still vote for the best new artist all the way through the show.
