Taylor Swift’s brand-new album 1989 (Taylor’s Version) has already shattered all previous sales records for 2023 in less than a week.
According to Billboard, over a million copies of the 33-year-old singer’s fourth re-recording of her early tunes had been sold in the United States since its October 27 release.
Furthermore, her 1989 restored edition outsold her 2023 album Midnights, which sold over 778,000 copies through October 26.
1989 (Taylor’s Version), which she called her “most FAVORITE re-record,” sold a million or more copies in a single week.
Taylor also recorded a new version of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) for her third platinum-selling album, which has sold 742,000 copies since its release in July.
Following the release of Swift’s Midnights, the new re-recording achieved the biggest sales week of any album, with 1.14 million sold in the week ending October 27, 2022.
Furthermore, the album had the biggest sales week in 2023, exceeding Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’s initial sales estimates of 507,000 in the week of July 13.
