Taylor Swift and her father Scott Swift’s night of celebration quickly turned into a night of trouble, with the pop star’s father facing assault charges from an Australian photographer.
According to Page Six, the New South Wales Police Force in Sydney, Australia, launched an inquiry into Scott after he reportedly attacked a photographer named Ben McDonald during a party at a ferry terminal in the early hours of Tuesday, February 27.
According to the allegations, Scott got into a violent altercation with McDonald, 55, about 2:30 a.m. while Scott and Taylor, 34, were leaving a luxury yacht after celebrating the completion of the pop star’s Sydney Eras Tour performances.
“She got off the boat, she walked towards security guards who were shoving umbrellas in our faces, and then he charged,” McDonald told the Daily Mail, alleging Scott’s actions were entirely unexpected.
Scott “probably decided he needed to defend his daughter for some reason,” McDonald, Matrix Media Group’s CEO, speculates on the likely cause of the physical conflict.
The site also obtained an audio tape in which Scott and Taylor’s security officer can be heard ordering McDonald to avoid the umbrella Taylor was hiding behind when exiting the yacht.
Scott can also be seen clutching her daughter’s hand tightly as the singer tries to dodge cameras.
