College Station, Texas – The TCU women’s tennis team wrapped up ITA Kickoff Weekend with one win and a loss with a 4-1 victory over Rice followed by a 4-0 loss to Texas A&M at Mitchell Tennis Center Jan. 27-28.
“We are still building belief to the level of our potential,” head coach Lee Taylor Walker said. “We had an opportunity the first day to dominate Rice in doubles and singles and we didn’t do it. Credit to their players and staff for fighting back and making that a very close match. But it really impacted our confidences and preparation against Texas A&M. Had we gotten off the courts quicker yesterday we would have played A&M with the confidence needed to win at this level. A lot of winning at this level has to do with our players truly believing in the work they have put in and what they are capable of. Our staff really believes we have the talent to compete with any team in the country. Now we have to get to work and coach them up better to be successful in these situations. Overall, I’m proud of our team for where we are right now and confident we are going to keep improving until we maximize our potential this season.”
