On Wednesday, Nov. 8, Green Mountain Technology and Career Center will open its doors to community members and prospective students to get a behind-the-scenes look at the cutting-edge educational opportunities offered by Lamoille Valley’s only career and tech education center.
The open house, which runs from 5:30-7 p.m., is an opportunity to meet educators, see classrooms and labs, and gain insights into becoming a tech center student.
Attendees will also have the chance to see current students demonstrating career skills they’ve learned during live demos.
The center prepares eligible sophomore through senior students for college and career through hands-on training focused on building real-world skills, practical knowledge, mentoring, and networking. It offers 12 programs, including allied health, automotive technology, business administration, computer networking technology, construction technology, creative media art and design, culinary arts, electrical technology, exploratory pre-technology, forestry and land management, heating, air-conditioning and ventilation, and sustainable agriculture and food systems.
“Our mission is to provide our students with 21st-Century skills and to give them a leg-up on their peers when it comes to seeking out those opportunities,” said director Erik Remmers.
