Tennis Duo Wins First Match of ITA National Fall Championships – University of Missouri Athletics


SAN, DIEGO, Calif. – University of Missouri tennis senior Mae Canete and junior Inah Canete snag a doubles win in the opening round of the ITA National Fall Championships on Nov. 1 at the Barnes Tennis Center. 

The doubles duo faced off against Phoebe Peus and Lindsey Hofflander of Brown University and secured the victory in a hard-fought battle. After a 3-6 loss in the first set, the Canete sisters returned to take the set and the tie-break, 6-4 (11-9) against the Brown University doubles team. 

M. Canete and I. Canete are set to continue their tournament play against the University North Carolina – Chapel Hill doubles team of Elizabeth Scotty and Reese Brantmeier on Nov. 4 at 4:00 p.m. PT in the round of 16 play. 

UP NEXT

The Tigers will travel up north to attend the Drake Invite in Des Moines, Iowa, hosted by Drake University to compete Friday, Nov. 3 through Sunday, Nov. 5.
