HOUSTON – The University of Houston Tennis head coach Helena Besovic announced the 2024 spring schedule, including matches against 11 opponents who finished last season in the top 75 nationally.
The Cougars open the 2024 campaign hosting Louisiana on Sunday, Jan. 28, before hitting the road to face North Texas on Sunday, Feb. 4.
Houston returns home for a six-game stretch, beginning Friday, Feb. 9, to close the non-conference slate against UTRGV, Louisiana Tech (Feb. 10), UTSA (Feb. 23) and UT Arlington (Feb. 24).
The Scarlet & White open their inaugural Big 12 Conference schedule hosting Texas Tech (Feb. 29) and BYU (March 2).
Texas (March 15), Oklahoma (March 17), Prairie View A&M (March 28), UCF (March 30), Oklahoma State (April 5) and Kansas State (April 7) are all set to visit the Barbra Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
Houston will travel for matches against TCU (March 8), Baylor (March 10), West Virginia (March 22), Cincinnati (March 24), Kansas (April 12) and Iowa State (April 14).
The Big 12 Women’s Tennis Championship is April 17-20, at the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla.
Houston returns seven of its eight student-athletes from the 2022-23 season. Among those returning are Gabriela Cortes, Sophie Schouten and Laura Slisane, who each won 11singles matches last spring. Slisane was an American Athletic All-Conference Team selection in 2023.
Last season, Houston went 14-9, including a win over #56 Rice and a Quarterfinals appearance at the American Conference Championship.
