Podoroska, ranked No 75, will face Romanian qualifier Anca Alexia Todoni next.

In the previous round of the Brazilian tournament, the Argentinian won against Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (6-4, 6-1).

Hercog, ranked No 301, beat Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle (6-2, 2-6, 6-3) in the previous round of the Brazilian tournament.
