FORT WORTH, TEXAS (June 9, 2025) – We are proud to announce the  appointment of Ms. Amber Ledbetter as the new Principal of Fort Worth  Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA). With over a decade of experience in  education, Ms. Ledbetter brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track  record of academic leadership and arts integration which align perfectly with  our school’s mission.

Most recently, Ms. Ledbetter served as the Principal of Cumberland Academy High School in Tyler,  Texas. Under her guidance, students thrived in  disciplines such as dance, band, orchestra, choir, theatre, and visual arts, demonstrating her  commitment to a well-rounded educational experience.

Prior to her leadership at Cumberland Academy, Ms. Ledbetter began her career as a secondary  math teacher with Tyler ISD and eventually served as one of their Math Instructional Specialist  before moving on to become a Principal with A+ Charter Schools, Inc. She holds multiple Texas  educator certifications, including Elementary/Middle School Generalist, English as a Second  Language (Grades 4–8), Mathematics (Grades 4–12), Principal, and Superintendent. In addition,  she carries endorsements in Gifted and Talented education.

Ms. Ledbetter earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in  Mathematics from Stephen F. Austin State University. Later, she obtained her Master’s Degree in  Educational Technology Leadership and Principal Certification from Lamar University, followed by  her Superintendent Certification from the University of Texas at Tyler.

“I am thrilled to welcome someone as well-rounded and experienced as Ms. Ledbetter to lead Fort  Worth Academy of Fine Arts,” said Dr. Anika Perkins, CEO/President and Superintendent of Texas  Center for Arts + Academics. “Her strong background in both academics and the arts makes her  uniquely equipped to uphold and elevate our mission.
