And the award for best supporting act at this year’s BAFTAs goes to… some rather excellent beauty looks. This year’s mood was all about – whisper it – quiet luxury, which is still, believe it or not, yet to exit the chat. On London’s starriest red carpet, A-listers opted for minimal, fresh and natural make-up, while the hair felt elevated but undone, polished but not perfect.
A glittering array of stars with stunning beauty looks
One of our favourite beauty looks came courtesy of Rosamund Pike, whose dewy, rosy skin paired perfectly with her brushed-up brows and slicked-back chignon. Wearing a cream blush on the apples of her cheeks, and a lipstick that delivered that coveted just-bitten effect, the Saltburn star looked positively luminous – earmark this vibe for springtime. Margot Robbie also showed off a tonal rose look, wearing a dusty pink on her cheeks and eyes, alongside a nude lip.
Luxurious hair was another key trend, with Ayo Edebiri and Carey Mulligan both sporting what hair pros are calling the “old money” bob – bouncy, lustrous hair that looks every bit as expensive as it feels. Elsewhere, there were big-barrelled curls and luxurious waves that would give the screen sirens of Hollywood’s golden age a run for their money. Crucially, more polished hair looks were paired with ultra-fresh make-up, a juxtaposition which prevented anything from looking too “done”.
