The AI gadgets to transform your kitchen


AI (artificial intelligence) may trigger fears of a dystopian future where robots take over our jobs and deepfake videos are the norm. But if you use Google Maps to get around, Spotify to recommend new music and Netflix to pick your next show, you are already using forms of algorithm-driven AI. Next, they’re coming for our kitchens.

Samsung’s AI washing machine (from £909) uses the company’s Ecobubble technology, which mixes air, water and detergent “to create bubbles that seep into your clothes faster”. It uses 20 per cent less water than conventional machines and shortens the cycle by 25 per cent.

Its sensors weigh your load, detect the type of fabric and check for soiling to calculate the right amounts of water and detergent needed,
