The Center for Rural Development is celebrating the arrival of the holiday season on Nov. 28 with two amazing holiday events that are sure to delight and entertain the whole family.
Enjoy an evening of holiday magic with the Spirit of Giving Tree Lighting followed by the classic ballet, The Nutcracker, performed by the Kentucky Ballet Theatre, Lexington’s premier professional ballet company.
The tree lighting will start at 6 p.m. in the front lobby. Guests are invited to stop by for tea and cookies, celebrate the holiday festivities, and take a holiday family photo with a Nutcracker-inspired scene.
The Spirit of Giving Tree Lighting is a Christmas tradition at The Center for Rural Development to celebrate the holidays with family and friends. The event culminates when the lights on the Christmas tree in the front lobby are turned on for the holidays.
There is no charge to attend the tree lighting, or the reception hosted by Karen’s Catering.
The Center for Rural Development and Lake Cumberland Performing Arts will present the holiday performance of The Nutcracker by the Kentucky Ballet Theatre, starting at 7 p.m., in the theatre. This is the only scheduled touring stop in this region of the state to host Kentucky Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker.
Tickets to The Nutcracker are $35 (plus fees), offered at a substantial discount from other touring locations, and may be purchased at www.centertech.com or at the Box Office before or on the night of the performance.
The Box Office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at The Center for Rural Development, located at 2292 South U.S. 27 (at Traffic Light 15) in Somerset, KY, and prior to the performance. Please call the Box Office at 606-677-6000 or stop by to purchase tickets.
