The Little Mermaid’s Visual Effects Artist Sues Disney for Workplace Injury

Christine Overs, who worked on special effects for “The Little Mermaid,” just sued Disney for $190,000 because she got hurt on the set of the movie.

Overs, who specializes in making beach and snow sets, told The Times of London that she broke her wrist when she fell from a foam step onto a concrete floor while making a lagoon scene for a movie at Pinewood Studios in October 2020.

Overs said that the incident happened because the production company wasn’t doing their job well because they didn’t “provide adequate access to the set.”

The news source said Overs told the Central London county court that the incident had hurt the last few years of her work “to a significant degree.”

Overs said that she could not even do up “buttons and zips” because she still hurts and has trouble sleeping and swelling.

The 74-year-old artist has worked on movies like Dune, Alien, Superman IV, and Golden Eye, if you didn’t know.

The news source said that Sandcastle Pictures, which is owned by Disney and was in charge of making the movie, has taken responsibility for Overs’ fall but won’t agree on the amount.

So, it is thought that a court hearing will be held later to decide how much Overs will have to pay.

The Little Mermaid, which starred Halle Bailey, came out in May 2023.
