Fashion and beauty fans, listen up. There’s a covetable, and colourful, new collaboration collection to take note of.

French beauty house Guerlain has renewed its partnership with the Italian fashion house Pucci for a colourful fall collection of beauty products. The limited-edition release includes an eyeshadow palette, Rouge G lipstick, Meteorites powder pearls, and more.

In advance of the collection launch on Aug. 30, we caught up with Violette Serrat, creative director of makeup at Guerlain, and Camille Miceli, artistic director at Emilio Pucci, to learn more about this stylish makeup release.

Q: What are the similarities between Guerlain and Pucci?

Camille Miceli: Guerlain has a much longer history, almost 200 years … Pucci is “only” 77 years old, but it’s true that these two houses share the fact that they were founded by great forerunners. They also require a certain level of cultural awareness. And while Pucci has created some very bold prints, Guerlain has always had a real sense of innovation, particularly in the creation of its packaging alongside the products.

Violette Serrat: For me, Pucci embodies a form of artistic achievement. Combining so many colours and so many shapes to make a garment is unlikely at first sight. And yet it works wonderfully well! Since Emilio Pucci founded it, this fashion house has undergone several rebirths. And now I have the feeling that it’s entering a new era, under the leadership of Camille, who is genuinely passionate about this house… It’s moving to see how such an old brand can continue its history, without going out of fashion, thanks to designers like these.

Q: What was it like working together to create this makeup collection?

Serrat: Camille and I have a very similar way of working. She is very creative and open-minded. Our discussions were rich, and our dialogue was completely transparent. There was a real flow between us, and everything happened naturally, without too much back-and-fort.

Miceli: Since I don’t know much about makeup, this dialogue with Violette, who is an expert, was very important to me. Although I wanted us to offer an original collection, it was essential that it was easily wearable.

Q: There are many amazing colours available in this release What can you share about the soon-to-be iconic red lipstick shade in this new release?

Serrat: We came up with this deep, ultra-pigmented black-cherry red, which didn’t exist in the Guerlain colour chart. It’s a truly original shade.

Q: What can you share about the look created for supermodel Natalia Vodianova in the campaign?

Serrat: Natalia Vodianova is sublime, with her luminous complexion, cherry-red mouth, a light purple eye shadow like a veil, and just the right amount of Noir G mascara to highlight her eyes. This is just one of the chic, modern looks offered by this collection. But there are many others.
