BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Get ready to relive the magic of Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s annual holiday production, The Nutcracker – A Tale from the Bayou.
Organizers said the audience will be enchanted by the full sets of Nels Anderson magical moments like the rising of the hot air balloon and the dancing of the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre which includes more than 100 community dancers and some professional guest artists. The theater will also be celebrating its 30th year of performances.
The show runs at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. from Dec. 16-17 at the Baton Rouge River Center Theatre for Performing Arts.
Those who attend can expect live music by the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra playing an original Tchaikovsky score and interactive surprises for the audience. Nearly 200 children in the area will be a part of the production. Professional guest artists such as Dana Benton, a Canadian professional from Colorado Ballet, and Francisco Estevez, an Ecuadorian professional who has danced for Boston Ballet and Barcelona Ballet, will also be a part of the production.

Tickets can be purchased through the BRBT office at 225-766-8379, the River Center Box office or Ticketmaster. BRBT said the production contains loud pyro effects and explosions that could upset young children or sensitive adults.
