BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – The Office of Management and Budget released the state’s annual comprehensive financial report on Thursday. It covers the fiscal year from July first, 2023, to June 30th, 2024.
The report for 2024 shows that North Dakota is in a strong financial position. OMB Director Joe Morrissette said the state’s net position has grown by 11-point two percent.
The report also shows the state’s general fund balance increasing by 12-point-four percent compared to the previous fiscal year.
Morrissette said North Dakota remains a leader in fiscal responsibility and transparency, adding that the report provides accessible and reliable financial information to citizens.
North Dakota received the highest ranking from the nonpartisan Truth in Accounting organization, earning an “A” grade and the highest score of any state in its 2024 financial report.
The state also received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for its 2023 report, marking the 33rd consecutive year of this prestigious award.
