On Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, the legendary English band announced that they’re taking “Hackney Diamonds,” their first album of original material in 18 years, on the road.

The Rolling Stones will be rocking in Houston to kick off their next North American tour.

The iconic British rock band is scheduled to perform April 28 at NRG Stadium – nearly 58 years after they first played in Houston. They last performed in the Bayou City in 2019, before the death of drummer Charlie Watts.

Tickets for next year’s show go on sale at 10 a.m. Dec. 1 on The Rolling Stones website, where fans can register for pre-sale ticket access by 11 a.m. Nov. 28. The pre-sale starts at noon Nov. 29. Pre-sale access does not guarantee tickets.

Houston is the only Texas stop on the upcoming tour, which includes 16 cities in the U.S. and Canada, including an appearance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 2.

The tour will celebrate and promote “Hackney Diamonds,” the band’s first studio album with new, original material since “A Bigger Bang” in 2005. The lead single from the new album, “Angry,” recently was nominated for a Grammy Award.

Lead singer Mick Jagger, 80, along with 79-year-old Keith Richards and 76-year-old Ronnie Wood, also are expected to perform popular hits such as “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Satisfaction” and “Start Me Up.”

The Rolling Stones have sold more than 250 million albums and received three Grammy Awards, most recently for “Blue & Lonesome,” a 2016 release that features covers of blues songs. They were given the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1987.
