The Weeknd Is Guinness World Records’ Most Popular Artist

Guinness World Records said on Monday that The Weeknd is the most popular musician in the world based on statistics. The Weeknd recently hit a milestone by surpassing 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Guinness World Records says no one else comes close to the singer’s streaming success. The 33-year-old singer is the first musician to reach 100 million monthly Spotify listeners and holds the record for most monthly Spotify listeners.

Last month, Spotify tweeted, “It’s official: On February 27, The Weeknd became the first artist in Spotify History to reach 100 Million monthly listeners.”

His remix of “Die For You” featuring Ariana Grande, which went viral on TikTok, has contributed to the recent increase in streams.

The original version of the song came out in 2016. In March, the remixed version of the song was also at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It is Grande and The Weeknd’s (real name: Abel Tesfaye) seventh number-one single. According to Billboard, it was the second time The Weeknd and Grande collaborated on a remix that reached number one after 2021’s “Save Your Tears” remix also soared to the top of the chart.

“Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd is the most streamed song ever on Spotify, with over 3.47 billion plays as of Monday, according to the music streaming platform. His song “Starboy” is also one of Spotify’s most popular songs ever.

The Weeknd is not unfamiliar with Guinness World Records accolades. In 2016, he received two awards: one for the album with the most streams on Spotify in 2015 and the other for the male solo artist with the most consecutive weeks in the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100.
