Lucasfilm announced Friday that there will be three more live-action “Star Wars” movies. This is good news for fans of the series.
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced the news at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 in London and on the Star Wars website. It includes Daisy Ridley’s return as Rey in one of the movies. James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will be in charge of making the movies. Kennedy called the directors up to the stage to make the announcement.
Mangold’s movie will go back to the beginning of the Star Wars saga. The announcement said that Filoni’s will be about the New Republic and “will bring to a close the interconnected stories told in ‘The Mandalorian,’ ‘The Book of Boba Fett,’ ‘Ahsoka,’ and other Disney+ series.” Obaid-Chinoy’s movie will be about what happened after “The Rise of Skywalker.” Ridley will be back as Rey “as she builds a new Jedi Order,” according to the synopsis.
“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” and “Logan” were both made by Mangold. Filoni directed “The Mandalorian” and “Ahsoka,” and Obaid-Chinoy directed “Ms. Marvel” and “Saving Face.”
