Some travelers may not have finalized their winter travel plans yet, but certain airlines are getting a head start for 2024.
United just announced the first-ever flight to this sunny city in Portugal, and JetBlue recently announced new flights to 2 European cities as well.
A few more airlines are joining in with their own additions to their route networks. All 3 are flying to new exciting places in 2024.
These low-cost airlines will hopefully save travelers some dough. As we all know it’s been a heck of a year for rising prices across the board.
Prices in the travel industry are always hard to predict as there are a variety of factors. However, these airlines specialize in offering lower fares, so let’s take a look at the new flights being offered next year.
These 3 low-cost airlines are launching new nonstop flights to international destinations:
Southwest Launches New Flights To Caribbean And Latin America
One of America’s most popular airlines also happens to be a low-cost carrier. With the motto of “bags fly free”, that instantly grabs travelers’ attention.
You would be hard-pressed to find an airport without Southwest flying there. They seemingly go just about anywhere notable in the U.S. while also offering a variety of awesome international flights too.
Their route network just got even better with the announcement of new nonstop flights from Orlando (MCO).
Travelers will have even more flight options to fly to some of the biggest tourism hotspots on the planet, which also happen to be close to home.
These are Southwest’s new direct flights launching in 2024 from Orlando:
- Cancun, Mexico
- San José, Costa Rica
- Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
- Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands
- Nassau, Bahamas
- Providenciales, Turks and Caicos
With this addition, Southwest will now offer 17 routes to Cancun and will tap Orlando as one of their main hubs for Caribbean travel. Montego Bay and Aruba routes are already in service.
Spirit Will Soon Fly To The Trendiest Destination In Mexico
Even with modern upgrades to many planes, travelers tend to have a love/hate relationship with Spirit Airlines.
They commonly love the low airfare and hate being crammed like sardines into a metal tube in the sky.
But hey, when you see a $30 flight for an awesome getaway, you gotta do what you gotta do. Spirit recently dropped a route to one of the most popular vacation spots in Mexico – Los Cabos.
The high prices just didn’t quite add up for budget travelers. But Spirit is simply swapping amazing Mexican destinations as they just announced they will fly to the trendiest place in Mexico.
If you’re thinking Tulum, you’d be correct! Travelers have been sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for Tulum’s new airport to open this December, as well as the Maya Train.
The budget carrier will continue flying to Cancun, which is the next closest airport to Tulum. Spirit loyalists will have to wait a few extra months as the new routes won’t take place until March 28, 2024.
Although Delta will be one of the first U.S. airlines to take flight at the new airport, the new Spirit flights will launch with daily flights from both Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Orlando (MCO) at promotional fares of $149 and up (terms and conditions apply).
Sun Country Is Launching New Flights To Canada
This lesser-known airline based in Minneapolis (MSP) was actually awarded as the “Best Low-Cost Airline in North America”.
Living up to its name, this budget carrier flies to many sunny destinations, both domestically and internationally.
Sun Country will now dip its toes in new international territory, which is our neighbor to the north – Canada.
The airline will launch 2 new routes to some of Canada’s finest cities. Beginning June 2024 (no official date), travelers can book nonstop flights from MSP to both Montreal (YUL) and Toronto (YYZ).
It’s important to note Sun Country and Southwest have pending regulatory approvals to make the new international routes a reality.
