The paint colors used in Shea McGee’s home reno

Shea made renovations to the interior and exterior of her family’s forever home, and the overall color scheme strikes a balance between timeless appeal and unexpected flair. These are the shades Shea used, from the entryway to the bedroom.

The exterior of Shea’s home underwent perhaps the most significant transformation during the renovation, gaining character and historic architectural features. Brick dividing walls in the front yard got some added height and a fresh coat of paint, and shutters and columns were added to the front of the house. Shea shares that the home’s exterior was painted with White Dove from Benjamin Moore, and the shutters were decorated with Natural Tan from Sherwin-Williams.

The home’s entryway has adopted a couple of distinctive looks over the years, and we’re loving the latest update. Painted with Swiss Coffee from Benjamin Moore – one of the brand’s best-sellers, and a familiar face throughout the McGee home – the newest rendition of the entryway is warm and inviting, displaying the designer’s modern charm style at its best. Shea shares that the paint is mixed at 75% strength in the entryway, and throughout the rest of the home.

The upstairs landing, which didn’t receive an update in this remodel, is also painted with Swiss Coffee. It features an eye-catching floor-to-ceiling tapestry in warm colors and an intricate design, and an oh-so-cozy nook housing a bench and armchair.

Shea’s living room is an expansive, open-plan space with comfort-forward design and lofty ceilings. Although the color didn’t change – the room is still sporting Swiss Coffee – Shea made some architectural changes to the space. Adding a bit of separation between the living room and landing, and repainting the ceiling beams, took the room from classic farmhouse to a modern-day haven. The beams, now just a few shades darker than the walls, are painted in Natural Cream by Benjamin Moore.

Moving upstairs, the home’s primary bedroom features the same color combination as the living room, with Swiss Coffee on the walls and Natural Cream as an accent on the fireplace and ceiling beams. With large windows, a statement headboard in a chocolate brown and lush, warm colors throughout, the space is the definition of calm and inviting.

In the kids’ bedrooms, Shea had a bit more fun with color and pattern. In her oldest daughter’s room, she introduced Demi Floral Wallpaper from McGee & Co., an understated, stylish tan color with white botanical details. In Ivy’s room, the trim and ceiling in refreshing Swiss Coffee offset Willow Boughs from Morris & Co., a striking floral wallpaper.

Shea was excited to unveil her finished dining room, which features gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space in natural light. Though the ceiling and walls separating the dining room from the kitchen feature the favorite, Swiss Coffee, a last minute addition of wallpaper – the beautiful botanical Fontainebleau from Pierre Frey – adds warmth and visual interest. The deep green hues pair wonderfully with the room’s plants and wooden furniture.

The McGee home’s pantry got an unexpected moody upgrade in the latest renovation, adopting the deep green hue Inspiration from Portola Paints. A last-minute decision based on the room’s lack of natural light, this choice makes the pantry a warm, welcoming and cozy space we can’t get enough of. Woven wood storage and gold hardware complement the dark scheme perfectly.

It’s clear that Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee works across the whole home, and interior designers agree that it’s a classic choice. Paired with other traditional neutrals and subtle pops of color, Shea has created a gorgeous, warm, minimalistic space that’s worth emulating.
