The stalwart designer and antiquarian’s West Hollywood flagship is a satisfying flex of its owner’s mastery, with fresh tutelage on creating atmosphere in every corner of the Marc Appleton-designed shop (upon its 2021 opening on Robertson Boulevard, David Netto called it “a gift to the street”).
The angular shiplap building feels richly California, while inside feels like a stroll across eras and environments (not to mention a ramble through your most interesting friend’s home) among leather library chairs and high-curving sofas, hand-rubbed bronze lamps and crackled lacquer chinoiserie-finish beds, all in warm, inviting arrangements. The headline? A bypassing of decorative noise for quiet lessons from the queen of good taste.
