These guys haven’t played an IHSAA basketball varsity game yet. 10 freshmen to watch.

These players have not yet played a high school basketball game. But here are 10 players to watch in the 2027 class going into the season by IndyStar Preps Insider Kyle Neddenriep (this does not include players who have left state for prep school):

Harper Baker-Lands, Plainfield: The 6-3 Baker-Lands is a good ballhandler and scorer. He is expected to start for the Quakers right away and should be an early impact player.

Jeremiah Bellamy, North Central: The 6-3 Bellamy is on a deep and experienced team but has a chance to be an early contributor.

J.J. Craig, Warren Central: The 6-2 point guard has a chance to be a good one early for coach Criss Beyers and the Warriors.

Kaleb Elkins, Lawrence North: On a deep team with a lot of guard depth, it is difficult to know if the 6-3 Elkins will see major minutes right away but he has a bright future.

Jason Gardner Jr., Fishers: The 6-foot guard and son of 1999 Mr. Basketball Jason Gardner might not start right away but will have the ability to earn playing time.

Will Hegwood, Roncalli: The 6-1 Hegwood will likely start right away for coach Jamin Wernke. Hegwood is a strong guard who can score.

Isaiah Hill, Pike: The 6-10 Hill is projected to start right away for the young Red Devils in Jeff Teague’s first season as coach.

Kenneth Lampley, Tindley: The 6-6 small forward should be a starter right away for Tindley and have an early impact.

Jaylan Mitchell dribbles at Peach Jam.

Jaylan Mitchell, Evansville Reitz: The 6-6 guard already has offers from Arizona State, Illinois, Missouri and Southern Illinois.

Cooper Zachary, Fishers: The 5-9 Zachary showed already this summer that he can handle the ball and create. Heady player.

5 more to watch: Derrick Cross Jr., Bloomington North; Cash Daniels, Cathedral; Peyton Miamba, Penn; Skylar Rodgers, Cathedral; Hayden Rogers, Guerin Catholic
