Things to do: Weekend of Dec. 20-22


Santa is making his final preparations and checking his list twice for his big day next week. Before he visits though, let’s take a look at things to do this coming weekend. 

Hunkapi Programs, an equine therapy farm located in the heart of Scottsdale, invites the community to celebrate the holiday spirit with its Yoga Flow and Open Your Heart Holiday Market on Friday, Dec. 20, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event, located at 12051 N. 96th St. in Scottsdale, offers an opportunity to relax during the holiday season while supporting local businesses. The Tianyu Lights Festival, an enchanting nighttime walk-through experience for all ages that brings nature and art together through awe-inspiring visual, cultural, and light effects, is pleased to announce it will expand its hours of operation and open additional reservations due to demand. Through its final night on Jan. 5, 2025, the Tianyu Lights Festival will be open seven days a week from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Check out the details here.

Lane Park, located at 7232 E. First Street in Scottsdale, offers a unique immersive experience this holiday season. Whether a party of two or 100 or more, locals and visitors can drop in to try out the unique team-building activity of ice curling. Learn more here.

Planning ahead for next week, for the eighth year, Chanukah in Carefree will host its nightly celebration including lighting the 6.5-foot tall Chanukkiah (menorah) and singing Chanukah songs for all eight nights of the festive holiday. 

The community-focused event will take place from Wednesday, Dec. 25 to Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025 starting each night at 5:30 p.m. in the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion in Carefree. Each evening, there is a program hosted by a different organization and many nights will feature Chanukah delicacies like latkes (potato pancakes) and sufganiyot (jelly donuts).
