“You can apply it as a primer, if you want to, you can mix it into your primer, or you can apply it after your foundation product,” says Peter Philips, creative and image director for Dior Makeup. Featuring micro-pearlescence to help reflect light and boost radiance, the liquid makeup product features ingredients of 92 per cent natural origin including floral extracts from iris, hibiscus and wild pansy.
“It’s almost like a jewel,” Philips says of the finish. Available in six shades, the range includes options for highlighter, blush and bronzer.
A little of the pigmented, pearly products go a long way.
“They’re very rich. You don’t need much,” Philips said, and added a few application tips for those unsure of how to add a glow to their spring makeup routine.
“You can control where you put the glow, keeping it to the parts of the face that catch the light. Like the nose bridge, the Cupid’s bow, and the eyelid. And then just blend it out,” Philips advises, noting the product can be blended with a finger or brush.
Philips recommends finishing the spring-summer look with a velvet-finish lip stain and a swath of mascara for an effortless effect.

Areas of the face with imperfections, such as scars or acne, Philips suggests sticking to matte. “Because matte reflects the light in a flat way,” he explains.
At a launch event in Los Angeles, Philips recalled a valuable lesson he learned about the power of matte versus glow from a Canadian supermodel.
“If you have big bags under the eyes, I like to keep the under eyes matte also,” Philips shares. “It’s actually a tip that Linda Evangelista gave to me a long, long time ago. She traumatized me. Because she was shooting and it was all about the glow and the shine and she was like, ‘Peter, under the eye …’ and she went to me and she poked me under the eye and she said ‘This, this, this, this, has to stay matte! Because otherwise, you accentuate my bags.’
“It was true. I’ll never forget that lesson.”
The price: $56.
The retailer: Dior, Shoppers Drug Mart.
