It’s no secret which Disney World restaurants generally get the best reviews from AllEars readers (and if you’re interested, you can see all those reviews here).
However, there are also a lot of restaurants that get generally bad reviews, but we don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing. In fact, one such restaurant comes in with a low 6.54 rating out of 10, but we’re just going to tell you that you should eat there anyway.
That restaurant is The Diamond Horseshoe in Magic Kingdom. Granted, many AllEars readers just think that there’s nothing saloon-like (which is, technically, the restaurant’s theme) about dining here. It used to be a lot different, but then 2020 happened, and the Diamond Horseshoe got a brand new menu — a menu that’s exactly the same as that at Liberty Tree Tavern.
This restaurant gets poor reviews on Yelp, too, though, with some thinking this would make more sense as a quick service location. Others were disappointed at the menu (some folks seemed unaware that it’s a Thanksgiving family style meal now). Some were also disappointed that this saloon doesn’t have any entertainment (yes, it used to have that, too).
Okay, we get it. This restaurant is not what it used to be, but we’re going to tell you to go there anyway. Why? Well, Liberty Tree Tavern is a VERY popular dining spot in Disney World, meaning it can be hard to get an advance dining reservation there. On the other hand, if you are just wanting to visit Liberty Tree Tavern for its menu (including the famous Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake), you can easily get a reservation for The Diamond Horseshoe with a lot less hassle.
On most days, you can even grab a table here without a reservation, sometimes as a walk-in or via the Mobile Dine Walk-Up Waitlist.
Also, if you’re reading reviews of The Diamond Horseshoe, you might discover that many of the negative reviews are from before it reopened with the Liberty Tree Tavern menu. So you should ignore those reviews because they don’t apply anyway. We’ve noticed that some of the more recent reviews, both here on at Yelp, are far more positive. The truth is the food here is WAY better now, even if it is a copycat of another restaurant’s menu.
So before you let reviews decide where you want to eat in Magic Kingdom, be sure to consider The Diamond Horseshoe — you can thank us later.
Stay tuned to DFB for more.
