Three Austin-area high school stars honored by Greater Austin Sports Foundation


Georgetown goalkeeper Neliaj Deleon earned all-state tournament honors in 2023 when the Eagles made it to state, and she's hoping to get them back to the UIL state tournament at Class 5A regionals this weekend. She'll play collegiately at Vanderbilt.

On Wednesday, three Austin-area high school athletes were honored by the Greater Austin Sports Foundation for excellence in their respective sports and in the classroom:

Neliaj Deleon, Georgetown soccer

Georgetown’s senior goalkeeper helped the Eagles to a 22-1-4 season that’s still going: they’re playing in this weekend’s regional tournament in hopes of making it to the UIL state tournament for the second straight year. She earned a spot on last year’s Class 5A all-state tournament team.

She’ll play next season at Vanderbilt.

Stony Point forward Josiah Moseley led the Tigers to the first state tournament in school history this year, a 38-2 season. The 2023 Central Texas boys basketball player of the year is up for the same award this year; he'll play collegiately at Villanova.

The 2023 Central Texas boys basketball player of the year as a junior had another big year as a senior, leading the Tigers to the Class 6A state championship game, the first state tournament appearance in school history. The Tigers went 38-2, and the forward was named Gatorade’s Texas boys basketball player of the year.

He’ll play next season at Villanova.

Rouse setter Savannah Skopal earned all-state honors all four years with the Raiders. She'll play at Rice.

Skopal, a senior setter, was named to the all-state volleyball team each of her four years at Rouse. She capped her high school career with with 1,586 assists, 386 digs, 157 kills, 74 aces and 70 blocks this season.

She’ll play college volleyball at Rice.
