Pune: An electric vehicle (EV) exhibition will be held at the Auto Cluster Exhibition Centre in Pimpri Chinchwad from December 1 to 3.
The organisers are expecting 200 companies to showcase 3,000 products, along with 30 product launches. The event is supported by Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA), Skill Council for Green Jobs and the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
The Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV) and the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) are also supporting the event.The exhibition will showcase latest innovations, eco-friendly transportation solutions and visionary initiatives in the electric vehicle industry. According to Vahan, a data repository of all vehicles registered in the country close to 14 lakh EVs have been sold in the calendar year so far.

A U.S. non-profit organization conducted a survey revealing reliability challenges faced by electric vehicles (EVs), particularly regarding charging and battery issues. EVs encounter 79% more problems than traditional gasoline-powered vehicles on average. Hybrid vehicles have fewer problems compared to gasoline counterparts, while plug-in hybrids face 146% more problems. Legacy automakers struggle with limited experience in handling EV technologies. Tesla ranked 14th in brand rankings, with concerns related to body hardware, paint, trim, and the climate system. Nissan plans to invest over 1 billion pounds in its northeastern England factory to transition its top-selling models into electric vehicles, supporting the UK government’s economic revitalization efforts. The investment will be used to develop electric successors to the Qashqai and Juke models, as well as establish a gigafactory on-site. This move is part of Nissan’s goal to electrify its entire passenger car lineup in Europe by 2030. Other automakers, including Jaguar Land Rover and Vauxhall’s parent company Stellantis, are also making significant investments in UK-based EV production.
Tata Motors has launched its fourth vehicle scrapping facility, ‘Re.Wi.Re Recycle with Respect,’ in Morinda, Punjab. The facility, developed and operated by Tata Motors’ partner Dada Trading Company, is equipped to safely and sustainably disassemble 12,000 end-of-life vehicles annually. It can scrap both passenger and commercial vehicles, regardless of their brand. This initiative aligns with Tata Motors’ vision to promote eco-friendly initiatives and encourage the adoption of newer, safer, and more fuel-efficient vehicles for a cleaner and healthier planet.
