If you’ve ever wanted to throw rubbish at models as they walked down the runway and let your frustrations out through a new fashion rating system — AVAVAV‘s Fall/Winter 2024 collection is your dream come true. Known for her wildly fun-inducing runway concepts, Stockholm-born designer Beate Karlsson ensured that Milan Fashion Week went out with a bang.
Karlsson’s chaotic runway shows always bring a smile to our faces, replacing industrial seriousness with innovation and amusement. While Spring/Summer 2024 rushed into unrealistic time crunches, FW24 thanked viewers for their feedback by assessing each look with propelling trash. The collection dived into internet hate, transforming cyberbullying into modern-day realities.
AVAVAV’s 26-look collection balances love and dread with serious demeanors, seeing models stroll with unbroken expressions. The intimate audience was given buckets of trash as entertainment, splashed with paper cups, soda cans, and discarded fruit peels. Garments were battered and bruised with fury, seeing AVAVAV’s relaxed styles destroyed in the process. Oversized hoodies and torn tights underpinned frayed shirting and buttoned pencil skirts, while a sinister aura guided faded t-shirt dresses, slashed tops, and buckled blazers charged with bulging eyes. On “sale” tees and thigh-revealing trousers were drenched in rebellion, completing the collection with the pie-faced designer taking a humorous bow.
