Tickets are on sale for Opéra Louisiane’s world premiere of “The Christmas Spider,” by Clint Borzoni and John de los Santos, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Manship Theatre in the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St. The opera is inspired by a Ukrainian legend, which resulted in the placing of spider ornaments on Christmas trees for a lucky New Year. Louisiana’s Old State Capitol, 100 North Blvd., is showing “Iconic JFK Moments Through the Lens of Jacques Lowe” through Tuesday, Dec. 21, in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the untimely death of President John F. Kennedy. The exhibit offers a rare glimpse into the private world of the Kennedy family through the lens of Kennedy’s personal photographer, Jacques Lowe. Admission is free.
