Keith Lee’s food tour in Dallas kicked off. 

Last December, he had some fairly positive reviews of restaurants during his Houston visit. 

Let’s see how Lee felt about Big D. 

Thunderbird Pies

This east Dallas pizzeria is known for its Detroit-style pizza. Lee ordered a combination of items: a brussel sprout salad, buffalo wings with banana pepper ranch, The Goat pizza, Budd pizza and Connie pizza. Lee said the brussel sprouts were “too greasy and that’s all I can really taste. The grease takes away from the flavor of the brussel sprouts and I really like brussel sprouts.” Lee gave the Connie pizza a 7/10 and the others a 3/10. His biggest issue with the other pies was the onion flavor because he’s not a fan of onions.

This popular BBQ spot in Dallas earned first place on Lee’s poll on his Instagram story. 

He ordered turkey, brisket, ribs, sausage and jalapeno cheese sausage. Overall, the reviews on the meat were positive, except for the jalapeno cheese sausage. He noted the taste of the cheese and grease, and the taste of the meat itself was too overpowering for him. The sides that came with the meat (mac and cheese, cornbread) were just bland, according to Lee.

Lee said the owner of the restaurant, Ahmed Siyaji, emailed Keith Lee asking for him to stop by saying he started the restaurant in his late mother’s memory. Lee ordered three types of tacos (Birria Taco with side of consomme, Paneer Tikka Taco, Chipotle Kheema Taco) and gave each a positive review that averaged out to an 8.9/10. 

“That’s the best one,” Lee said after taking a bite of the Chipotle Kheema Taco.

 “They use an amazing amount of spices and seasonings on this meat.”
