Timbaland was forced to apologize to Britney Spears and her followers after the producer’s bad advisory comments, which included Justin Timberlake.
“She goin’ crazy, right?” Timbaland asked in response to a question from the audience on the upsurge of interest in the producer’s Timberlake duet Cry Me a River in light of the publication of Spears’ memoir.
“I wanted to call JT, ‘Man, you gotta put a muzzle on that girl.’”
Timbaland apologized for his comments when he went live on TikTok, as he normally does after a day of backlash on social media.
He responded, “I apologize to the Britney fans and her,” after reading a question on his feelings about women. “Yes, ‘you know about respecting women?’ Hell yeah.”
In an excerpt from her biography, The Woman in Me, Spears argues that Timberlake’s Cry Me a River music video painted her as a villain following the fallout from their highly publicized romance.
Timberlake dealt with an unfaithful partner that resembled Spears in some ways in the video, which seemed to confirm a media-promoted accusation that Spears had cheated on Timberlake.
