TN/GA join forces for child car seat safety check

On Friday, May 24, two states that normally do battle on the football field will team up for a safety check on child car seats.

The Tennessee Highway Safety Office will join the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development, the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, and the Georgia Department of Public Health for “Seats Across the States,” a car seat safety check.

Parents and guardians can meet certified safety technicians at the I-75 Welcome Center, located on Interstate 75 northbound near the East Ridge exit from 2:00pm – 4:00pm.

There, teams will share child passenger safety tips, educational resources, and parents will have access to certified technicians.

The Tennessee Highway Safety Office says that motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for children in America. In Tennessee, over 65 percent of car seats are improperly used or incorrectly installed by adults.
