Tom Cruise Is Reportedly in Negotiations to Star in a Film Directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu

Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s future feature film will star Tom Cruise.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment are in talks to acquire the package for Iñárritu’s first English-language film since The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio almost a decade ago.

The creators of the feature film, Iñárritu, Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris, and Nicolás Giacobone, have not revealed any story details.

The project is the consequence of Cruise’s recent exciting (albeit not exclusive) partnership with Warner Bros., which created much speculation about the potential outcomes of the agreement.

The film also verifies allegations that Cruise is eager to work with auteurs after focusing on franchise projects for the majority of the previous decade, including the Paramount-produced Top Gun: Maverick and Mission: Impossible films.

In addition to working on the impending Mission film, Cruise is developing a much-discussed space-themed feature for Universal Pictures and filmmaker Doug Liman.

Iñárritu’s most recent film is Bardo, a Netflix drama in Spanish. The director’s previous film, The Revenant, grossed more than $500 million worldwide and earned him the Academy Award for Best Director.

Cruise garnered two Best Actor nods for his work in Cameron Crowe’s Jerry Maguire (1997) and Oliver Stone’s Born on the Fourth of July (1990), as well as one for Supporting Actor in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia (2000).

The unexpected cooperation between Cruise and Iñárritu is expected to produce stunning results.
