“I think it starts with love” is a statement that could not be more true when it comes to Tomasita’s. Poured into every glass and served on every plate, love is the overwhelming ingredient you will find the moment you walk through the doors of the local restaurant.

One of the key things that the assistant manager, Dolores Welk-Jack, says Tomasita’s focuses on is providing top-notch customer service. Welk-Jack says that service includes the following: “Treating every customer like they are the only one in the building. One-on-one engaging, not only taking their order but getting to know them. If they have been here before, remembering them, calling them by name, just engaging. It’s so important that we do that.”

The commitment to high-quality service from Tomasita’s extends to more than just the restaurant’s guests but to the community as well. Whether they are serving at a food bank or making connections with locals, Tomasita’s wants everyone to know they are appreciated.

“We try to get out there with the people who are maybe unnoticed. The police department, the fire department, the schools,” says Welk-Jack. “We try to get out there and let them know, ‘We see you.’ Getting involved with the community here through the food banks here in town and feeding the staff who work so hard at the food banks. Also, the teachers, getting out there, showing them. It’s a stressful time for them with the end of the year; we get out there, we feed them, and just letting them know we’re here. We’re here for them, and we are here for the community.”

At the end of the day, Tomasita’s wants to make sure they stand out in the community, spreading smiles from that first bite of food. “That’s our livelihood. We want to be known. We are going on our 50th year for Tomasita’s, and we’re here to stay,” says Welk-Jack, “We love what we do. We love our product, and it comes through in our product.”
