Top seed Greene Central girls tennis falls in state playoffs, won 30th consecutive conference title this fall


SNOW HILL, N.C. (WITN) – The 2A East top seed Greene Central girls tennis team fell at home on Monday afternoon 5-4 to North Carolina School of Science and Math in the second round of the state playoffs.

The Rams have had another tremendous season on the courts qualifying four players in the state singles and doubles tournaments.

The won their state record 30th consecutive conference team championship recently. A lot to be proud of in Snow Hill.

“What is especially gratifying is to reach the 30-year milestone in a year that we finished ranked number one in the state. That is an exclaimation point for us,” says Greene Central head coach Tim Medlin, “Proud of everybody we got all four of our girls through to states next weekend. They all performed their very best.”

The state singles and doubles playoffs are Friday and Saturday.
