
UNION, W.Va. (WVVA) – A tree-planting ceremony was held at Mountain View Elementary School in Monroe County Friday morning to celebrate the life of a first-grader who was killed in a car crash on March 24 in Greenbrier County.
Dallas Harter was honored at the school in Union by fellow students, school staff and people in the community.
Members of the Future Farmers of America planted the tree beside the school. Speakers included Mountain View Principal Pam Dunford and first-grade teachers Rebecca Wikle and Megan Wikle.
Dallas and his mother, Maggie Harter, were killed in the head-on collision on Rt. 219 near Organ Cave. The crash is still under investigation.
A gofundme page has been set up for Harter’s oldest daughter, Alyssa, who is now taking care of her younger sister left behind.
