Trump Family Is Refusing to Provide Necessary Documents for the Fraud Investigation

The New York attorney general’s office is still having a hard time because of Donald Trump and his three oldest children. In a letter sent to the court last week, the office said that they will not cooperate with evidence in a fraud case that is still going on against them and the Trump Organization.

The letter says that the Trumps aren’t turning over emails and other communications, and it cites “an unexplained drop-off in emails for Ivanka Trump” as a major concern. The emails Ivanka turned over dropped from an average of 1,200 per month in the first nine months of 2014 to 37 per month in 2016. The AG’s office told Judge Arthur Engoron on Friday, “Not only have defendants failed to offer any substantive response to this inquiry, but there have been no documents produced by Ms. Trump.”

In reaction to the letter, Engoron is asking the Trumps to send affidavits explaining how they have followed discovery so far. He also gave them until May 12 to give him the rest of the papers.
